After Aishwarya Rai’s ‘Provoked’, there will be another flick on the tale of a young battered housewife stuck up in an abusive marriage. The film titled ‘Heaven on Earth’ will have Preity Zinta playing the role of the protagonist.
The movie, from Toronto-based filmmaker Deepa Mehta, is inspired from the true tale of a Punjabi woman named Amandeep, whose disturbing story Mehta covered in her documentary ‘Let’s Talk About It’. However, the name of the character in the film has been changed to Chand. Actress Seema Biswas has also been signed to play an important role in the movie. Produced by David Hamilton (Water fame), the film will be in English and the shooting will start from November.

Meet Shammi Kapoor and Geeta Balli’s son Aditya Raj Kapoor, who is all set to come with his directorial debut, ‘Baltidevi Queen Of South Hall A Musical’, starring none other than Rakhi Sawant.
Aditya fell for Rakhi when he saw her in ‘Koffee with Karan’ and immediately decided that she would be his heroine.
“I saw her on Koffee With Karan. I saw the appeal in her eyes. I fell for her the way all of India fell for her. I saw the emotion in her heart, which was begging to come out. I felt my script had similar feelings. So I went to her the next day and begged her to listen to my script. She read the script and by the fifth page, she had tears in her eyes. She said this was her story and then she hugged me,” says Kapoor.
Baltidevi is a story of a young girl who is married in India and taken to South Hall, London where she survives by running a dhaba.

Director Imtiaz Ali said Kareena’s clean look is part of her girl-next-door image. The film takes place on a train and follows Kareena and Shahid through a series of adventures after they are left stranded in a remote railway station without luggage or money.
”Have you ever seen people wearing heavy makeup while traveling? In fact, people don’t like applying any makeup,” Ali told a newspaper. “Kareena is one of the few heroines who looks good without makeup.”

Siddhi Vinayak Creations’ ‘Aggar’ is comlete and ready for release on September 14. The movie has been directed by Anant Mahadevan and the lead actors of the film, Tusshar Kapoor and Udita Goswami, shot for a cameo for Star Plus’ ‘Kasturi’ as part of their promotional campaign. Tusshar and Udita Goswami enacted some scenes which will be incorporated in the serial and will be shown when the movie releases this week. Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty walked the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week ramp at Pragati Maidan for Tarun Tahiliani’s collection “From Kutch to Kenya“.
She mesmerized the audience in a flowing golden drape dress with a gold headband and waistband.
“People say that by bringing a celebrity on the ramp, a designer can get away with any kind of collection but that is not true. The drape evening dress was designed only keeping her in mind,” Tahiliani said after the show Thursday evening.
For the male counterpart, the collection was inspired by Kathiawari men in Kutch with models in dhotis and wrapped skirts and glorious safas to protect them from the summer sun. The colors ranged from creamy latte, pale pistachio to hot pink.

‘Chak de India’ has done it for her. Within a month of the release of her debut, Sagarika Ghatge (Preeti Sabharwal) has already signed her next project in the form of Apoorva Lakhia’s ‘Mission Istanbul’.
Apoorva was impressed by her performance in ‘Chak De India’ and offered her a role in his film which will have Shreya Saran in a leading role. While Shreya reportedly plays Zayed Khan’s wife in the film, Sagarika is to be a CIA agent. Vivek Oberoi, Sunil Shetty, Zayed Khan, Shabbir Ahluwalia and newcomer Nikitin Dheer (son of character artist Pankaj Dheer) complete the cast of Mission Istanbul. Abhishek Bachchan will appear in a cameo. The movie is slated to go on floors from October 20.

Tanushree Dutta, after sizzling Bollywood screen with her glamour, will now be seen in an action film for children to be directed by a new director, Hadi Abrar. It will have a lot of special effects and fantasies.
Earlier, it was reported that the film is based on the ‘Tomb Raider Series’. However, Tanushree denies the report saying, “No, its not based on the Tomb Raider series and the character has nothing to do with Lara Croft played by Angelina Jolie. It has a different story line and concept altogether, but the look is somewhat inspired from it.”
Tanushree is very excited about the role and has already started working out for it. “I would be required to do some action sequences, although they won’t be very complicated. However, I need to train myself for that because I have never done an action sequence before that’s why I am learning martial arts,” the gal says.

He hates the term ‘Item Number’, but this a fact that Dino Morea will do a rocking dance number in a guest appearance for Jahnu Barua’s ‘Har Pal’ to be choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant.
“Yeah. It is just a guest appearance. It’s my first item song and that too a really rocking number by Pritam. And I get to play a DJ,” Dino said. He further clarifies the reason for his excitement, “I hate the term ‘item song’. It reduces me to a commodity. But the track was too sizzling to resist and I’m getting to dance with two of the hottest ladies in showbiz. I mean Preity and Isha.”
Dino has quite fond memories of Preity and her friendship, “I know her from the time she first came to Mumbai. We were both new and great friends. I feel so proud to see her taking such confident strides. And she’s also become such a terrific dancer. I’m enjoying the thought of dancing with her and Isha.”
The actor is recently concentrating on his production company. He has shot an ad film with Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor which has been directed by Tarun Mansukhani. His forthcoming releases are ‘Kabhi Bhi Kahin Bhi’ and ‘Deha’.

After completing ‘Bhootnath’ with Amitabh Bachchan and Juhi Chawla, Ravi Chopra has started his next film, ‘Pappu Pas Ho Gaya’ with Govinda, Lara Dutta and Tabu.
Shedding light on the story and characters, Ravi Chopra said, “It is a love triangle but a very funny film. The tagline of the film is- If you dare to dream, you can get anything in life.”
Tabu will play a public prosecutor in the film with a storyline that has more than a passing similarity with the Joe Pesci-Marisa Tomei-starrer ‘My Cousin Vinny’. Ask how Chopra convinced Tabu to say yes, he quips, “It was not difficult to convince Tabu because the role was good. Actors are convinced by nothing else but their roles and this role spoke for itself.”

Another version of ‘Devdas’ is on the way. To be directed by Sudhir Mishra and belonging to the ever-rising production house Pritish Nandy Communications, this ‘Devdas’ will have Shiney Ahuja as the lead hero and Lara Dutta as ‘Paro’.
However, the story doing rounds of Esha Deol playing ‘Chandramukhi’ is baseless as told by Pritish himself. “It’s true that Shiney Ahuja and Lara Dutta have been confirmed for the roles of Devdas and Paro. But we’re yet to cast Chandramukhi. The reports of Esha Deol being signed for the part are completely untrue.”

On one such occasion they were shooting on Ferguson Road where most college campuses are situated. Even after the shot was canned the boys continued riding the bikes and got caught by a policeman at the signal. Without helmets, without licences and at full speed, the traffic policeman took them to be college rowdies. Luckily for them, some production unit hands rushed to the spot and saved the heroes from further embarrassment.

India is surely carving its niche on the world map. England, on Sunday, celebrated the vivid colours of India through the Regent Street Festival, with ‘India Now’ as its theme. Cannes this year celebrated 60 years of India’s Independence, and now the Regent Street celebrated India’s culture through dance processions and musical displays.
To grace the event were two gorgeous ladies - Amrita Arora and Celina Jaitley, dressed in a red western dress and traditional Indian sari, respectively, as special guests at the Regent Street Festival and celebrated India along with Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London.
“It’s lovely to be here, and it’s amazing how people want to know so much about our country,” said Amrita. “The colour, the spirit, the celebration – it’s all so beautiful!”
