It is raining prison sentences on Bollywood. Less than a month after Sanjay Dutt was sentenced to six- year prison, his friend Salman Khan- the so-called bad boy of Bollywood- was sent away for five years on Friday for poaching a protected Chinkara in Rajasthan. A police team from Jodhpur is on its way to Mumbai to execute the non-bailable arrest warrant against the actor. His lawyers are pinning their hopes on the Jodhpur HC, where they will seek his bail today and argue against the conviction.
It all started on October 1, 1998 when Salman and his co-stars of ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ went out hunting in Guda Bishnoiyan region of Jodhpur and were chased away by irate villagers. He was arrested on October 13 but released on bail.
Salman has signed projects worth about Rs. 200 crores and of these, shooting for two films are already underway- ‘God Tussi Great Ho’ and the remake of the Tamil hit ‘Pokhiri’.
